Both my model and map viewer seem to not be working after the patch. Is there a place I can download updated versions of these? Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't really worry about it. Blizzard has made some serious changes to prevent it from this day forth.

Prevent what? The use of these programs?

Model changing, extracting game data from the MPQ files, we all know it will be cracked in a week, but if you are looking for working versions I would wait a while.

I was lucky to finish my last project before the patch... But I have sympathy for those who only made it half way through.

I hope there'll be some other way to do this soon.

There's an updated version to get around the new security somewhere. ;D

Have a look for the 'TBC' version.

I don't see why people use WoWModel viewer so much. If you can't do it in the game the right way it isn't really right. In some cases for special shots I would suggest it, but it really isn't the greatest thing to use. I like live content, the use of WoWModelViewer makes things look too fake, you also know people work harder at something when they don't use it. I like the program and what it does, but the use for it now days is overrated.

I think these programs are essential for making machinima on par with what we've seen so far. There are movies out there that are shot all ingame, and they can be really good, but the level of realism and cinematography overall from the world and map viewers just cant be matched by full ingame shooting. I don't understand what Blizzard would have against these programs, because its clear that they support the machinima community, and ALOT of movies use them.

Anyways, if any finds a place to download these, please send me a PM or email.

Already have model swaps fully working in 2.0.1 as well as live beta, not that the framework is any different between those 2 clients. C++ ftw.

It seems he knows C++, a programing language. That is probably why he has it working.

Fanatik,

I'd really appreciate if you shared this kind of information with us, or me, at least (kek) since, I'd really like my WoW Model Viewer up and running again soon.

Please, send me a PM, or post here in this thread.

Rohticol pretty much got it. Please allow us to bask in your superior programming glory? But really, it would be awesome if you could hook the public up with this.

I posted this somewhere else now its time for here, so here is a solution for those of you who can't wait.:top:

A friend figured out the easiest (least from what I've seen) way to do it.

1)Move your World of Warcraft folder, rename it (I.E. World of Warcraft2.0).

2)Pop your CD in and install the game, I named my install folder "World of Warcraft1.12". I installed mine to another partition.

3)Now throw the 1.12 full patch into that partition and patch. When its done patching, go into your newly installed WoW directory and click the WoW Launch icon to test it and make sure it says the right patch on the login screen.

4)Move your old World of Warcraft folder back to where it was and take the "2.0" off of it. Make sure you have any shortcuts [on your desktop or what not] are linking to that folder's EXE.

5)Now for WoW Model Viewer. Extract it to your partition, open the folder and open up the "Config" file in notepad. Where it says "Path=C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\Data" change that to the new Data folder in your new WoW directory in your other partition.

And that should work, now there is a "TestPath=C:\\Program Files\\World of Warcraft\\WoWTest\\Data\\" in that config file but there isnt a WoWTest folder in your new WoW installation.

For those of you without another partition:

Do step 1, you can install the game anywhere, when done and patched move your old directory back and take the "2.0" off. Just make sure all shortcuts to launch the game are directed at your old WoW folder so it launches the 2.0 version. And redirect the Config file of WoW Model Viewer to your 1.12 install of WoW data folder.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'm not really good at instructions hehe.
